FBI Caught Downplaying Defensive Gun Uses — How Many Lives Were Erased from the Record?

So the NRA-ILA just dropped a bombshell:
Turns out the FBI has been massively underreporting Defensive Gun Uses — the very incidents that prove why ordinary Americans need their right to carry.

Think about that.
Every time a law-abiding citizen stops a home invasion, a carjacking, or a rape — it’s supposed to count. Instead, those lives saved were quietly swept under the rug while politicians paraded “gun violence” stats on TV.

If the real DGU numbers were public — millions per year according to independent studies — the anti-gun narrative would collapse overnight. The whole “you don’t need a gun” argument starts looking like a lie built on selective math.

So here’s the question:
Was this an innocent data error… or a deliberate move to manipulate public opinion?

No way it wasn't done on purpose. If we can protect ourselves and even better if there's proof, what do we need them for? It doesn't fit the narrative.

It’s hard to call it an “innocent error” when the FBI’s numbers are off by huge numbers compared to independent research. Anyone paying attention knows defensive gun uses rarely get counted because most of them don’t fit neatly into police reporting boxes, and they don’t help the political narrative in states trying to restrict carry. If the public saw the real scale of lawful self-defense, the entire argument against civilian gun ownership would fall apart. The best way to expose it is by continuing to push the data from criminologists and surveys showing DGUs a year. When the government won’t count it honestly, the rest of us have to.
